Basking in the afternoon warm sun, being whisked off our feet by the scent of the beautiful white orchid all around and being enthralled by the simple sight of an exquisite array of gorgeous looking beauty products displayed, one could only expect nothing less than stunning beauty and lovely time from then onwards. Yes, it was such an afternoon tea session at the Orchid Conservatory of The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and we were about to be introduced to this luxury skincare and beauty brand, La Mer's latest skincare infused makeup collection - Skincolor de la Mer™. We are excited to share with you our own little experience using the collection here today, though it is super long overdue. Let's come with us, will you?
Inspired by the legendary healing powers of the sea and the cell renewing energy of Miracle Broth™, La Mer scientists sought to develop the next generation of transformation - where the last step of skincare meets the first step in colour. Introducing Skincolor de la Mer, a collection of foundation, concealer, powder and luxurious brushes that does only what La Mer can do - giving one that unmistakable 'Look of La Mer' - a healthy, flawless luminosity that renews one's ageless beauty. It must be due to its Color Capsule Technology that creates natural, pure looking colours that blend all the 5 great attributes in a great foundation together. The Color Capsule Technology is created to mimic true skin tones. Cool pigments are encapsulated in a transparent capsule to keep colour pure, true and natural looking.

The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF20 (30ml at MYR475)
Comes in a solid frosted glass bottle, the foundation is definitely a luxurious one. The foundation is lightweight, yet it is rich in texture. With quite a runny fluid, the foundation glides onto our skin effortlessly and blends into our skin beautifully, almost looks like second skin, but way better, as it evens out our skin tone well!
It is said this foundation is able to hydrate, soften and smooth visible age away. It does feel hydrating and soft on the skin. As for visibly smooth away wrinkles and signs of aging, perhaps will need pro-long usage to see the results. The foundation does immediately enliven the skin (thanks to its Miracle Broth™ ingredient) to give it vitality and freshness upon application. Furthermore, the two extra supporting powerful ferments - the NEW Soft Velvet Ferment and the Regenerating Ferment contributes to the suppleness and soft focus feel of the skin. It finishes to a semi-matte look. The shade we have is Natural 02. There are 9 shades to choose from. Here for more.
To get a more dewy sheer look, we were told by the beauty consultant from La Mer Singapore, Ms. Cecelia that day that we can in fact add in a few drops of La Mer's The Renewal Oil (here for more). Mix the two together, blend well and spread the mixture over the face. We love the finishing of this technique as it gives our complexion that subtle natural hint of glow that looks a little more dewy than semi-matte.
Designed for precise application around the curves and contours of the face, the tapered foundation brush (MYR250) allows for a custom, tailored finish. The luxuriously full and curved shape make application seamless. Blending the foundation out with the foundation brush gives us a more polished look, we noticed. The brush feels so soft and smooth on our skin, it is definitely a big winner. For light coverage, use a sweeping motion while to create a fuller coverage effect, a dot-and-release method is advisable.
The Powder (25MG at MYR370)
Comes in a solid glass tub with an ultra soft cute little looking white puff, this finishing powder is a wonder on its own. Milled so fine and lightweight that it almost feels like air, this face powder is formulated with Miracle Broth™ to infuse skin with skincare benefits. The powder has a slight shimmer to it from the tub, but it is unnoticeable once applied onto the face, leaving the skin smooth, soft and blurs away pores and fine lines. The finishing is remarkable as it does not flatten your foundation like other powders at times would, and has the ability to oil control the skin. Never cakey looking, most definitely, and long wearing too.
It was most definitely a remarkable and informative afternoon spent with the Malaysian La Mer team as there was a makeup demonstration on how to use these makeup beauties, while enjoying an English afternoon tea with blogger friends and media.
