[Review] Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate

Kiehl's has been a brand that is synonymous with naturally derived ingredients-based coupled with dermatologist skewed beauty products and had a long standing history dates back to more than 160 years ago founded as an old-world apothecary. (here for understanding). We have heard rave reviews about Kiehl's products, have seen the bright neon signage, the skeleton and lab coat personnels at the stores countless times but have never had the opportunity to experience them till recently. We are glad to introduce you to one of the skincare products that we had the pleasure to try out - the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate

Inspired by new dermatology hydration procedures, this innovative formula anchors moisture deep within skin's surface layers to address age-related dehydration issues which are caused by an imbalance of moisture within the skin that occurs as we age, making our skin more prone to showing signs of aging sooner. Some of the signs of aging would be fine lines, wrinkles, dull and tiring looking skin. So, if fresh, plump and youthful skin is what we aim to achieve, perhaps this would be the answer?

Kiel's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate was inspired by Dermatologist anti-aging hydration procedures, such as Juvederm Hydrate, and is formulated with a potent complex of Plant-based glycerin - a natural "moisture magnet" and Shiso Leaf Extract, which helps to protect the "anchoring" of deep moisture into the skin surface layers. The hydration results sustained over a 72-hour period and skin penetration testing up to 10 layers in the Stratum Corneum.

The Packaging
As the brand's philosophy and belief, they keep their packaging simple and functional, rather putting their cost more into the content of the skincare, this product is no exception. Comes in a simple paper box, and a pump dispenser, which is hygienic, it says practically everything much about the serum. We love the idea behind this, no fuss.

The Ingredients
In young skin, Hyaluronic Acid is present in both the dermis and epidermis. In aging skin, less hyaluronic acid is present in the epidermis, making the remaining hyaluronic acid still present in the epidermis more important to protect, ensuring the skin's heath and functionality. In-vitro data shows that Shiso Leaf Extract helps to protect against the degradation of hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in the skin by decreasing the activities of haluronidase enzymes, helping to anchor moisture when skin needs it most. While some forms of glycerin is synthetic based, this serum is a plant-based glycerin, derived from sources such as palm fruit, rapeseed and coconut. It is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs water from the environment into the skin. Glycerin is a "moisture magnet" and has a "reservoir effect", increasing water holding capacity and helps to promote skin elasticity.

The Experience
The serum has a lightweight texture, white in colour, almost gel-emulsion like, perhaps it is due to its lack of wax formula, it absorbs into the skin really well, it is such lightweight texture that it does not feel like most serums, almost can pass off as a moisturizer. It is scent-free, which is what we like, and as we rub it into our skin, we can feel the refreshing lightness and hydrating effect. It glides on well. Our skin feels calmer and relaxed after about 3 weeks of usage. As for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, the serum does not show evident or significant results, just yet. Not too bad a serum, to be honest, based on the tactile experience. We are slightly more in love with the other serum from Kiehl's, which we shall share with you soon.

Do explore more of what Kiehl's has to offer here and you can also follow them via their social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, if you have not already done so. The Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate is retailed at MYR206.70 for 50ml. Thanks Kiehl's Malaysia for the love. Visuals of Shiso leaves via pinterest.

Wishing you lovelies have a luminous and happy rest of the week *_^

With love,
Jeann
