A Festive 2015 Chinese New Year Celebration With Jaeger-LeCoultre!

The shooting stars have arrived at Jaeger-LeCoultre just one week before the Lunar New Year here in Kuala Lumpur and we were there to celebrate this joyous occasion with the Swiss luxury watch manufacture. The evening started with a surprise down pour and making it seemed a little gloomy to begin with, but the hospitality shown by the team of Jaeger-leCoultre quickly diminished the wet atmosphere and warmed up the occasion. It was an intimate get together with clients and media friends of the brand. What better way to celebrate this auspicious occasion with the brand's CEO himself, Mr. Daniel Riedo and the Managing Director for South East Asia and Australia, Mr. Alexis de Laporte and the team *_^ Now if you would like to know how typically a Chinese New Year is celebrated, our friend from Rolalaloves has a great post covered here.

On display that night was the brand's new exquisite Master Calendar Meteorite, the very face of astrology. Like many successors from its line which have enjoyed tremendous success, this piece has all the attributes of a winner, all thanks to the choice of meteorite stone used to compose its dial, and therefore lending the timepiece its seductive appeal to its own law of gravity. Faithful to the aesthetics codes of Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control line of watches, this model combines a pure, refined design with exceptional technical performances, all in gently reduced proportions, allowing it to suit all wrists. The sapphire casebook of the timepiece allows the movement and its traditional finishes to be seen. This, to us, is quite a creation. What do you think?

Whether it comes from fragments from asteroids or of even more impalpable origins in the comets wandering through the solar system, meteorites lend themselves to all manner of inner fantasies. Their rarity is equally fascinating, since very few of them actually manage to reach the surface of the earth. Known as "shooting stars" when they light up summer nights, or "bolides" when they are larger or bright enough to be seen by day, meteorites leave a characteristic luminous trail when entering the atmosphere, that is when most of us would "wish upon a star" and make that special wish *_^

Since it is so rare, where you might wonder we can find meteorites these days? Once they have landed on or been buried several centimeters into the earth, meteorites often remain unnoticed, if not by the experienced eyes of those who make a profession of gathering them. Connoisseurs have long considered Antartica as a sort of Eldorado, since the ice cap fosters a concentration of these stones that rise to the surface when blue ice is eroded by catabolic (down-slope) winds. This continent is however now the exclusive preserve of scientific meteorite hunters and any commercial exploitation is prohibited.

Now that is fascinating indeed.

As intrigued we were by the timepiece, we were equally eager to witness the lion dance since the rain had stopped that evening, and we knew that it would be a great one since Malaysia's Lion Dance performance is ranked one of the top in the world. Nothing beats watching a Lion Dance up close, really! That was our first time experiencing it in such a close proximity. We even got a mandarin orange from the Lion's mouth, what luck *_^ Mr. Daniel Riedo dotted the Lion's eye as a symbolic gesture in bringing the lion to life and as a sign of good fortune for the brand in this year of the Goat.

All in all, it was a great celebration and thanks again, Jaeger-LeCoultre Malaysia for the lovely invite. We wish the brand all the best in the new year and enjoy tremendous success in all areas. Now, Jaeger-LeCoultre definitely reigned in a fantastic Chinese New Year with a bang!

Till our next adventure, have a beautiful week ahead, lovelies. Hhhmmmm.... shall we wish upon a shooting star and land us in Antartica, at least once in our lifetime, maybe? Fingers crossed *_^
